Six generations in the making, P&H Egan Ltd. is reviving its historic Egan’s Irish whiskey, representing 160 years of Egan family heritage.

The storied brand is launching in select U.S. cities this fall with its first expression, the charismatic Egan’s 10-year-old Single Malt. Egan’s Irish Whiskey is full of genuine history dating back to 1852 when Patrick and Henry Egan founded P&H Egan. Over the next 116 years of operation, P&H Egan was involved in numerous commercial enterprises including bottling, malting, brewing, wholesaling, importing and exporting, before an inability to compete with multinationals caused P&H Egan to voluntarily close its doors in 1968. While the Egan family business was no longer in operation, the Egan spirit lived on through the family’s descendants.

With whiskey in their blood, Maurice and Jonathan Egan, fifth and sixth generation Egan’s, alongside longtime family friend and industry expert, John Ralph are revitalizing the company to carry on the legacy and time-honored traditions of the family. Egan’s 10-year-old Single Malt is authentic, 100% pot-still Irish whiskey aged for 10 years in oak casks before being meticulously selected by the Egan family and approved to bear the family name. Egan’s is non-chill filtered, allowing character to be retained from the casks in which it is aged.

“While Egan’s Irish whiskey is technically new to the market, I prefer to look at it as a rebirth or revitalization of an old brand with true heritage and family involvement. Egan’s Irish whiskey has a contemporary feel, yet pays respect to the rich and varied history of this celebrated brand. We’re thrilled to bring the Egan name back to Irish whiskey and we believe the time is right for Egan’s whiskey to take its place as a world-class Irish icon.”
– Jonathan Egan, President of P&H Egan Ltd.

Recently, the Irish whiskey category has seen dramatic growth and has emerged as the fastest-growing premium spirits categories in the world. “It is very clear that the Irish whiskey category is heating up,” said John Ralph, CEO of P&H Egan USA.

“While there have been countless new brands emerging over the last 24 months creating more and more competition, we are confident that Egan’s focus on the emergent, super-premium Irish single malt category will set us apart from the competition and position Egan’s for tremendous success.”

Egan’s 10 Year Old Single Malt will be available in the U.S. in October in Illinois, Massachusetts, New York and California with a suggested retail price of $49.99.
