Must Mix: Frozen Cocktails
By Sophia DeVito
It wouldn’t be the start of summer without a frozen cocktail.
We have rounded up four delightful drinks that you can make in the comfort of your home to beat the heat. Frozen sippers are the perfect things to make when having an outdoor BBQ this season. Not only that, but frozen cocktails take very little effort — throw everything into a high-speed blender, and you’ll have a frosty glass in your hands in no time.
Here are four frozen cocktails you should mix up this weekend.
Frozen Chili Passion
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. Passion Fruit Rum
- 1 oz. Passion Fruit Purée
- 1/2 oz. Chili-Infused Russian Standard Vodka
- 1 oz. Cranberry Juice
- 1/2 oz. Ginger Syrup
Preparation: Mix all ingredients in a blender with ice and serve in a Martini glass. Garnish with chili flakes on top.
Nectar of the Gods
Recipe from The Setai
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. Los Sundays Coconut
- 2 oz. Almond Milk
- 1 oz. Coco Lopez
- 1/2 oz. Lime Juice
- 1/2 oz. Velvet Falernum
- 1/2 oz. Orgeat
Preparation: Combine all ingredients and blend until thick and creamy. Serve in a short Collins glass with a pineapple slice garnish. (We suggest slicing the pineapple-like a pizza and dip one side into Tajin)
Passoã Popsicles
Recipe from L.A. Jackson
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups Red Wine
- 1/2 cup Passoã
- 2 tablespoons Sugar
- 1 cup Pomegranate Juice
- 1 cup Fresh Raspberries & Lime Slices
Preparation: Combine red wine, Passoã & sugar in a small saucepan. Cook on low until sugar dissolves. Take off the heat and cool. Stir in pomegranate juice and set aside. Divide the fruits evenly into the popsicle molds. Pour sangria on top of the fruit into the molds. Freeze overnight and enjoy!
Sagamore Spirit Frozen Blood Orange Southside
Ingredients:
- Sagamore Spirit Signature Rye Whiskey
- CAnE Collective’s Blood Orange Southside Mixer
Preparation: With this cocktail, the drink is made with just two ingredients. Use equal parts of both, add ice, and blend away. Garnish with a mint sprig and a sliced blood orange.
