What was your inspiration for creating the brand?
Kelvin started as a food truck on the streets of Brooklyn in 2010, selling organic nonalcoholic slushies to thirsty New Yorkers. We quickly noticed that our loyal customers always brought flasks to the truck to spike their slushies, so we began collaborating with bars and restaurants to create and serve frozen cocktails. We’ve revolutionized the frozen cocktail category by going beyond traditional “fruit” flavors (often made with artificial ingredients and high-fructose corn syrup), which limit restaurants and bars to frozen fruit cocktails. Our six award-winning versatile base flavors (Ginger, Citrus, Tea, Margarita, Piña Colada, and Frosé) feature high-quality, all-natural ingredients, which allow operators to create and customize almost any cocktail—including classic cocktails—in frozen form.
What are some of your favorite slush flavors, and which are the bestsellers?
It’s hard to pick a favorite among our six base slush flavors, but I would say I really enjoy ginger generally, so I’m a big fan of our Ginger base, which works well in lots of cocktails, like a Dark and Stormy or a Moscow Mule. I also love mixing our Citrus and Tea to make a frozen Arnold Palmer. When we ran our slush truck, the Arnold Palmer was always the most popular flavor. And when we started working with bars and restaurants, one of the first cocktails we developed was an Arnold Palmer with whiskey. We call it the Bushwood after the country club in Caddyshack, and it’s still one of my favorite frozen cocktails. Overall, across the country, Frosé has quickly become our best-selling flavor. It’s made with organic peach and strawberry juices, really accentuates the flavors of rosé wine, and is simply delicious.

And remember, frozen cocktails don’t have to just be Margaritas, Piña Coladas, and Daiquiris. We have seen it over and over with accounts. Having one or two really good signature frozen cocktails is easier to execute—and more impactful with customers—than having five or six of the same generic drinks that everyone else is serving.
