Elysian Brewing to Produce Exclusive Space Dust IPA, Made with Real Space Dust

By Chilled Magazine

When Elysian Brewing Company first released Space Dust IPA, the brewing team sought to create a beer unlike anything else they had done before.

It was experimentation and forward-thinking from Elysian’s passionate team of brewers that ultimately led to the creation of their flagship beer.

Expanding nationwide with plans to triple its volume in 2017, Elysian is taking its beer into the stratosphere by teaming up with renowned cosmic dust scientific researcher Jon Larsen. Larsen is a polymath for the 21st century who, for the first time, identified the presence of micrometeorites (aka real space dust) on Earth, a theory long dismissed as legend by the scientific community. Elysian will soon bottle one limited edition six-pack of Space Dust IPA, and each will contain a particle of Larsen’s found space dust.

“Sometimes inspiration can be found in the most unexpected places. We first brewed Space Dust IPA during a trial brewing of experimental IPAs. We had bags of excess hops including Galaxy hops, which was pretty much dust, not pellets, and at the time we dubbed the brewing project ‘Space Dust.’ While the final recipe doesn’t include Galaxy hops (the sweet spot was finishing with Amarillo and Citra), we loved the name and the rest is history. We were inspired by Jon Larsen’s similar affinity for the unusual and unexpected. That’s why taking our signature West Coast style IPA and adding particles of real space dust, all the way from Larsen’s native Norway, was a no-brainer.”

The coveted, limited edition six-pack of Space Dust IPA will be auctioned off to the public during a special event on August 8th, 2017 at the White Space at Agora Gallery in Chelsea, NYC. An alignment of arts and sciences, the event, Under the Microscope: A Conversation on Space Dust, will feature a one-of-a-kind gallery of awe-inspiring micrometeorite photography by Jon Larsen, a totally nebular Space Dust IPA happy hour, and a panel discussion between Larsen and NASA’s Cosmic Dust Researcher Dr. Michael Zolensky on curating the cosmos right here on Earth.

Curious guests (21+) thirsting for a unique experience – one that delights both the intellect and taste buds – can find tickets to Under the Microscope: A Conversation on Space Dust HERE. The event will begin at 7:30pm and ticket sales will include entrance, two beer vouchers, and Space Dust swag. One hundred percent of proceeds from ticket sales, beer sales, auction items, and artwork will be donated to New York Cares.
