Dragon Fruit Smash

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Patron Tequila
  • 1 Dragon fruit, in quarters (origin: Mexico then Southeast Asia; now grown in Hawaii, Israel, Australia, and Cyprus)
  • 2 Mint Leaves
  • 1 Basil Leaf
  • 1 oz. Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1 oz. Basil Simple Syrup*

Preparation

  1. In a mixing glass, muddle mint, basil, and dragon fruit with lemon juice.
  2. Add remaining ingredients, ice, and shake.
  3. Pour into a rocks glass.
  4. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a slice of dragon fruit.

Additional Notes

Basil Simple Syrup will keep for about a week in the refrigerator, stored in an airtight container.

*Basil Simple Syrup


Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Fresh basil leaves (loosely packed)

Preparation

  1. Heat ingredients over medium heat, stirring occasionally until sugar has dissolved.
  2. Remove from heat, and allow to steep for about 15 minutes.
  3. Strain syrup.
