Angel’s Envy Bourbon Releases 2017 Cask Expression

Louisville Distilling Company has announced the limited-edition release of Angel’s Envy™ Cask Strength Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels.

Each year, Angel’s Envy carefully selects barrels exceptional enough for the lengthy Cask Strength finishing process.

Angel’s Envy starts as a super-premium bourbon of uncompromising quality, aged up to seven years for the perfect level of richness and maturity. However, only a few of these barrels meet the brand’s incredibly high Cask Strength standards. The hand-selected barrels are then blended and receive an extended finish in Portuguese port wine casks.

Angel’s Envy 2017 Cask Expression

Journalist, critic and spirits consultant F. Paul Pacult declared the 2012 Cask Strength “best spirit in the world” in his 2013 Spirit Journal. In his review, Pacult awarded the expression five stars—his highest recommendation—noting, “this masterpiece deserves a sixth rating star.” The 2015 expression was also awarded five stars by Pacult in the 2016 Spirit Journal.

The suggested retail price for a 750ml bottle, which may vary by market, is $199.99. Each year, the proof varies based on the barrels selected. The 2017 release is 124.5-proof or 62.25% ABV, so you might want to consider sipping Cask Strength with a dash of water to release some of the flavor nuances.
