The Flavor Feed: Watermelon
By Chilled Magazine
Watermelon isn’t just the flavor of the summer—it’s the flavor of EVERY summer. And with warmer weather right around the corner, now is the perfect time to start tinkering with those classically crisp, refreshingly sweet flavors.
And there’s no better place to start than with Island Oasis® Watermelon Beverage Mixes. They’re made with real watermelon purée and juice concentrate, delivering that light, crisp, refreshing summer flavor with none of the labor.
When it comes to crafting delightful spring and summer sippers, watermelon can do it all. Margaritas are a no-brainer, especially since they’re continuing their decade-long run as the most popular cocktail in the country (Datassential). But watermelon can also freshen up other classics like martinis, mojitos, fizzes, and sangrias.
It’s also perfect for tapping into the zero-proof trend with things like watermelon spritzes, aguas frescas, lemonades, and more. And since 82% of consumers love or like watermelon, you can be sure whatever you add to your menu will be a hit (Datassential).
Here are a few fun facts about watermelon for you to serve up alongside your next hit drink:
- Watermelons are 92% water
- They’re classified as a fruit (berry) and a vegetable (part of the cucumber/squash family)
- There are over 1,200 varieties, and can have red, yellow, or orange flesh
