Must Mix: Turmeric Whiskey Sour
By Chilled Magazine
Virgil Kaine’s Turmeric Whiskey Sour Puts a Healthy Twist on a Classic.
Traditionally seen in Asian cooking, Turmeric has made its way across the kitchen and behind the bar. While this vibrant orange-yellow spice is best known for its medicinal properties as an anti-inflammatory and a strong antioxidant, bartenders and spirit companies have begun to take notice. The bold color and pungent, bitter flavor that it adds to a cocktail is unmatched, making it a particularly interesting way to add a twist to your favorite classic cocktail. And though drinking liquor may not be intrinsically healthy, incorporating a little turmeric into our happy hour cocktails certainly eases some of our guilt.
