Cocktail by Amanda Swanson

1.5 oz Deep Eddy Lemon

.75 oz Hypnotiq

.5 oz fresh lemon

.5 oz Super Soldier Serum**

2 oz Club Soda

Carved Lime Wheel Garnish and silly straw

**Super Soldier Serum ingredients: Mountain Dew, Pineapple juice, Rose’s blueberry syrup, fresno peppers, sliced (with seeds intact)

**To make Super Soldier Serum-

In a small saucepot combine 1 12oz can of Mountain Dew original, 2 oz of Roses Blueberry Syrup, 2 oz of Pineapple juice (I used Doles) and bring to a boil. Add 3 sliced fresno peppers, let boil for 1 minute then reduce to a simmer for 15 minutes. Take off heat, allow to cool, and strain out solids.

(Fresnos were chosen for their fruity juicy heat. While real blueberries can be used, this will change the color and you will need to add sweetener, so just buy the silly stuff, we are having fun.)

Cocktail preparation:

In a shaker tin, combine all ingredients except for club soda.

Shake well

Strain into collins over fresh ice

Top with club soda

Garnish

Carve alternate wedges out of a thick cut lime wheel to create radiation symbol

Tapered footed collins (any highball will do)

I’ve been looking for a reason to play around with an Incredible Hulk. When the D.E. contest came along, with a theme to have fun, I put it in the rotation of ideas I had swirling, until that Friday when I was at work and the universe put Mark Ruffalo in front of me, and after serving him I decided it was a sign.

Hypnotiq being the only anchor to the OG drink at hand, I decided for D.E.’s Craft the Fun I’d create a drink designed to invoke what Bruce Banner may have consumed to “hulk out”. Lemon was chosen as both vodka & juice for color as the lime proved too sharp during r&d

Mountain Dew in the SSS provides a jolt of taste and color, & the fresnos create the back heat of a spicy ranch water. The pineapple accentuates the hypnotiq, & the bubbles bring the drink to life. HULK SMASHable!
