Ingredients:

1.5oz Deep Eddy Ruby Red

1oz Amaro Montenegro

1oz Acid Adjusted Orange Juice*

0.5oz Rich Cinnamon Syrup**

Preparation:

*Acid Adjusted Orange Juice – fresh squeeze oranges – for every 8oz juice, add 1 teaspoon citric acid & 0.25 teaspoon malic acid – stir to dissolve.

**Rich Cinnamon Syrup – add 2 parts white sugar, 1 part water, & 4-5 cinnamon sticks to blender – blend on medium speed for 1-2 minutes – strain out solids.

Add all ingredients to shaker tin filled with ice. Shake well and fine strain into Nick & Nora glass.

Garnish:

Expressed Orange Peel (discard) & Edible Flower

Cocktail Inspiration:

I was inspired by the Hemingway Daiquiri. I wanted to create a cocktail with a complex flavor profile, while not going too crazy with a bunch of different ingredients. The challenge was to create an elevated vodka cocktail that all of us cocktail nerds can enjoy while also having it be approachable by the average person. Playing on the botanicals of the amaro with the slight bitterness of the grapefruit, brightening it up with the tart orange and then bringing it home with the spice of the cinnamon. I’m very pleased with this serve and I hope you are intrigued as well.
