PATRÓN Tequila Unveils PATRÓN 100

In the world of professional mixology, “high proof” is often a double-edged sword. While higher ABV can carry flavor further, it can also bring a heat that masks the delicate nuances of the agave. Today, PATRÓN® Tequila is aiming to solve that equation with the launch of PATRÓN 100—a 100-proof, small-batch expression distilled to proof with zero dilution.
Crafted at Hacienda PATRÓN in the Highlands of Jalisco, this release isn’t just about strength; it’s a masterclass in 100% tahona stone production. By utilizing the volcanic stone wheel to crush the cooked agave, the brand is doubling down on a labor-intensive tradition that yields a deeper, more complex character than modern roller-mill methods.
High Proof, High Performance
For bartenders, the appeal of a 50% ABV spirit lies in its “structural integrity.” As ice melts and citrus is added, many standard tequilas can lose their voice. PATRÓN 100 was designed specifically to stand its ground.
“High proof should mean high performance, not harshness,” says David Rodriguez, PATRÓN Tequila Master Distiller. “With PATRÓN 100, we focused on building more depth and structure while keeping the balanced profile people expect from our tequilas.”
The result is a blanco that reveals intense notes of cooked agave, minerality, and black pepper, maintaining a refined mouthfeel despite its bold proof.
The Return of the Tahona
The timing of the release coincides with a massive shift in consumer behavior. According to recent Nielsen data, tahona-produced unaged tequilas are currently outpacing growth in the broader blanco category.
“People are paying closer attention to how tequila is made and gravitating toward deeper, more authentic agave flavors,” explains Samantha Newby, Global VP PATRÓN, Innovation & Sustainability. With 18 tahona wheels at their disposal, PATRÓN is uniquely positioned to scale this heritage-driven craft without cutting corners.
On the Road: The Let’s Roll Tour
To celebrate the launch, PATRÓN is hitting the pavement with the Let’s Roll Tour. The initiative features 100 pop-ups with 100 bartenders over 100 days. The tour will culminate on National Tequila Day (July 24th) during Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans—the industry’s premier gathering.
