Palm Bay & Santa Rita Launch Secret Reserve Red Blend 2013
By Chilled Magazine
Founded in 1880 in Chile’s Maipo Valley, this historic property was among the first to pioneer plantings of European grape varieties in Chile. For over a century an ancient mirror hanging in the Santa Rita estate has held the secrets of the dances, toasts made and moments shared there. This ancient mirror serves as the inspiration for Secret Reserve, an elegant red blend that combines the intensity and depth of Cabernet Sauvignon, softness of Merlot, fresh fruit of Syrah and structure of Petit Verdot and Carmenere to create a graceful, balanced wine with a fresh and juicy palate.
Secret Reserve is grown in the highlands, at elevations of 2000 feet where winds that run down the mountainsides bring cool evenings to the deep, stony soil vineyards, slowing ripening and producing fruit that stands out for its balance and fresh varietal flavors. The different varieties are picked and fermented separately to achieve their maximum potential prior to blending; the result is a premium wine that encompasses each variety’s best attributes. Secret Reserve will be available nationwide in September.
