May is Finger Lakes Wine Month

Finger Lakes Wine Country, in partnership with Finger Lakes Wine Alliance, is excited to announce the second annual Finger Lakes Wine Month beginning May 1, 2014. This month-long celebration will feature special offers at wineries, tasting rooms, restaurants, wine bars, retailers, and attractions as well as getaway packages at top Finger Lakes Wine Country accommodations. Finger Lakes wine lovers across the world can take part in Finger Lakes Wine Hour at the end of the month, the world’s largest Finger Lakes virtual wine tasting.

Wine loving aficionados recognize the Finger Lakes as the premier cool-climate wine growing region in the US and Finger Lakes Wine Month in May is filled with wonderful events being held at wineries, retailers and restaurants for tasting, sharing and experiencing our fresh, vibrant cool-climate wines.”

Finger Lakes Wine Month focuses on education about the region and its wines through experiences targeted to consumers, trade, and media. Consumers visiting the region will enjoy special getaway packages, special tasting experiences at wineries and tasting rooms, and deals at regional attractions and restaurants. Consumers will also enjoy Finger Lakes wine tasting events and specials at retail shops, restaurants, and wine bars throughout New York State. In addition, Finger Lakes Rieslings and Cabernet Francs will be featured and paired with a menu by Chef Angelo Schifilliti of the new American restaurant, Hunter’s at Brooklyn Uncorked May 29, 2014. Wine media are invited to join exclusive virtual tastings that highlight stand out varietals of the Finger Lakes region.

Finger Lakes Wine Hour (#FLXwine)

Finger Lakes Wine Hour is a social media driven Finger Lakes wine tasting primarily taking place through Twitter and Facebook. This special virtual tasting event will take place Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. EDT. Anyone is welcome to participate by opening their favorite bottle of Finger Lakes wine and sharing their thoughts and experiences via social media using the hashtag #FLXwine. Representatives from the Finger Lakes, including winemakers, will be available on Twitter to answer your questions. Finger Lakes Wine Hour is a great opportunity to interact with the region’s wine industry leaders.

Wine Retailer, Restaurants & Wine Bars

In addition to special events and deals at the wineries, many wine retailers, restaurants, and wine bars throughout New York State will host specialty tastings, have special deals on Finger Lakes wine purchases, and feature the Finger Lakes on their wine lists.
