Hot Ones Meets Wine: Check Out Poured Reflections, A Podcast by Jordana Guimaraes
By Chilled Magazine
A glass of wine can loosen lips. But what happens when you turn it into a game?
That’s the idea behind Poured Reflections, a new podcast from Jordana Guimaraes that blends wine tasting with interviews, asking guests to guess the price of each pour before answering a question. As the wines change, so does the conversation.
We caught up with Jordana to talk about the inspiration behind the show, how wine shapes the conversation, and what happens when you give people the space to open up.
What inspired the concept behind Poured Reflections, and how did the idea come together?
I have always loved people. I always say I got into fashion not because of my love for clothes, but rather because of my love for people.
Also, as a Latina (born and raised in Brazil) and Egyptian blooded woman, the first thing I tend to do when I have guests over, which stems back from watching my parents entertain as a kid, is open a bottle of wine and offer a glass to break the ice. I feel like wine is a “social” drink that allows people to let their guards down and feel comfortable, no matter what the conversation entails.
So I took my love for people and my experience with wine and paired it with the fact that the fashion industry usually has an air of exclusivity, where people feel like they can never be let “inside.” That’s how Poured Reflections came to life. It allows viewers to feel like they’re sharing a glass of wine, wherever they are, while getting an inside look at the person behind their favorite brand.
And it won’t stop at fashion. It’s about lifestyle because fashion today is no longer just about the clothes we wear.
You’re blending lifestyle, celebrity, and wine—what kind of moments or conversations are you hoping to create?
This will be a gamified experience where guests not only take part in an interview, but also a play a fun game. They taste a series of wines and guess the price based on a seven-tier wine tasting, which wine as they try each one before a question, the price of the wine they are drinking. Think a mix between The Price Is Right and Hot Ones.
I am really hoping that by allowing the guest to get more comfortable, I will be able to create conversations where they open up. We get into real topics like family, life, thoughts, work, relationships, etc. In a way they may have always wanted to express but never felt they had the space for it.
If Poured Reflections had a tagline—what would it be? “Come as you… and leave nothing behind”
How do you approach wine selection for each episode?
It will be a compilation of matching the wine to the guest but also allowing guests, whether wine aficionados or someone who has never really explored wine before. We’re also exploring a bigger question through the experience: does the price of a wine really determine how good it tastes? The tasting element helps bring that to life in a fun and interactive way.
Can you tell us about your partnership with STOKED BROS MEDIA and what that brings to the project?
Stoked Bros Media has already produced podcasts and shows for top celebrities as well as have distribution to major broadcast partners. We met through a project I partnered with bringing basketball to the fashion industry and Beth Fryman, Aisha Wynn, and the entire team just have so much attention to detail in everything they do and partake in! It’s been a true partnership from day one.
What makes Poured Reflections feel different from other interview-style podcasts?
Not only the fact that we are tapping into “the person/celebrity behind the brand —your favorite clothing in your closet” and turning an industry that is unapproachable and exclusive into an open space and inclusive, but also bringing a gamified experience with wine tasting and there’s a special surprise at the end of each podcast episode that I can’t tell you yet (STAY TUNED – shhhhhh).
Is there a dream guest you’d love to sit down and share a glass with?
That is a great question because with wine, where walls come down and truth reveals, I feel everyone will be just as excited as the next! I mean, if a girl had to dream, Anna Wintour would be a fun one!
