Cherry Mirage

Cocktail by James Shawyer

Ingredients:

1.5 oz Deep Eddy Lime Vodka

1 oz Disaronno Amaretto

1 oz Cranberry Beet Syrup

(Equal parts by mass, frozen cranberries, peeled roasted beets, raw sugar, and hot water, blended briefly then strained. Adjusted with 1 tsp lactic acid + 1/2 tsp vanilla per cup of syrup)

Preparation:

Build in a Boston shaker, shake vigorously over ice, double strain into a Nick and Nora.

Garnish:

Skewered Maraska Maraschino Cherry

Glassware:

Nick and Nora glass

Cocktail Inspiration:

I love unexpected combinations creating familiar flavors. I think it’s really fun when a cocktail ends up tasting like something completely different than the sum of its parts. Borrowing from the work of James Briscionne, I created a drink that has very strong and overt cherry notes despite not having cherry in it at all.
