Growler
(GROW-lur)
A growler is a container used to transport and serve draft beer. It’s typically a large, resealable jug or bottle, commonly made of glass, ceramic, stainless steel, or other materials. The can vary, but they often hold between 32 and 64 fluid ounces (946 to 1892 milliliters) of beer.
The term “growler” is believed to have originated in the late 19th century when beer lovers would carry fresh beer from the local pub in galvanized metal pails. It’s important to note that growlers are designed for relatively short-term consumption, as the freshness of draft beer can deteriorate more quickly than that of packaged beer. Once a growler is opened, it’s best to consume the beer within a few days to ensure optimal flavor.
