Fichimori – Revolutionary Chilled Red Wine Launching in the U.S.

By Chilled Magazine

Summer wine sipping usually means opening up a crisp white or a bottle of rosé, leaving red wines on the shelf until the fall. Launching this summer and breaking the traditional patterns of red wine consumption is Fichimori: a vibrant wine – with minimal oak or tannins – that is best enjoyed well-chilled to help beat the summer heat.

Fichimori bottle shotFichimori – a blend of primarily Negroamaro grapes (native to southern Italy) with a touch of Syrah – delivers vibrant aromas of pomegranate, tart cherry and rose floral notes. On the palate, Fichimori is fresh and fruity with a delicate velvety finish. In Puglia’s local dialect, Fichimori translates to “dark figs,” considered some of the region’s most delicious fruit with a color so intensely red that they appear almost black. In the glass, Fichimori is true to its name, showcasing a deep ruby-red color laced with hints of purple.

Its soft tannins and fruity flavors are best when served well-chilled (ideally between 46°F – 50°F). Fichimori is a new alternative to afternoon beach or poolside cocktails and also lends itself to be enjoyed during evening soirées. It pairs effortlessly with light pastas, citrus salads and other warm-weather dishes. For a more unique pairing, try Fichimori with fresh sushi and delicate seafood.

Expertly crafted through a combination of old world and modern techniques, Fichimori introduces consumers to a lesser-known grape like Negroamaro, a native grape long enjoyed by Puglians. Puglia, a region in southern Italy, is an emerging epicurean gem that for oenophiles has earned its name as “the cellar of Italy.” Fichimori’s bright and lively flavors convey the essence of summers in Puglia and by being served at a cooler temperature the wine is a refreshing encouragement to “chill out” this summer.

Fichimori will be available starting summer 2014 in select markets throughout the United States, including Arizona, California, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Texas. SRP: $15.99 / 750ml bottle.
