Black Stallion Estate Winery Debuts “Transcendent”

By Chilled Magazine

Black Stallion Estate Winery has announced the inaugural release of “Transcendent” Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, a luxury showcase of the winery’s site-specific winemaking philosophy.

Featuring a master blend of the vintage’s top vineyard lots from Napa Valley’s most prestigious appellations, the debut of this limited production establishes a new benchmark for Black Stallion Estate Winery.

“Transcendent is the fulfillment of our family’s dream to craft a legendary Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley,” said Chris Indelicato, CEO and president of Black Stallion Estate Winery. “This cellar-worthy wine is the ultimate expression of quality, terroir and character, and celebrates years of dedication in the vineyard and cellar.”

transcendent-bottleFrom the mountain elevations and volcanic soils of Mount Veeder, Atlas Peak and Howell Mountain, to respected valley floor locations, Oakville and Oak Knoll District, Winemaker David Ostheimer hand-selected exceptional fruit expressive of Napa Valley’s best. All grapes identified for Transcendent consideration were hand-harvested and fermented separately. Months of meticulous blind tasting evaluations of more than 30 individual lots ultimately determined the final blend for Transcendent, which also received a combination of extended barrel and bottle age for full flavor development.

Black Stallion Estate Winery’s 2010 Transcendent ($135) released to select markets in July. A blend of 89 percent Cabernet Sauvignon and 11 percent Merlot, Transcendent is a culmination of experience in the vineyard, patience in the cellar and an unwavering commitment to delivering a world-class Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley.
