Moët Hennessy North America is pleased to officially announce the promotion of Rodney Williams to Chief Marketing Officer & Executive Vice President Brands, Moët Hennessy USA.
In his new role as CMO & EVP Brands, Rodney Williams is responsible for driving business and marketing strategy for MHUSA’s portfolio of wine & spirit brands. Williams oversees the development and implementation of strategic and operational brand plans that are designed to maximize brand growth and the overall consumer experience. Williams also leads development and communication strategy for the MHUSA Brand organization.
Previously, Mr. Williams served as Moët Hennessy USA Executive Vice President, Spirits, where he oversaw marketing for the leading portfolio of luxury super premium spirits brands, including Belvedere Vodka, Grand Marnier liqueur, Ardbeg Single Malt, Glenmorangie Scotch, and Hennessy Cognac. Prior to this role, he served as the Senior Vice President for Hennessy in the US, leading a strategic marketing campaign that generated record sales from 2012 – 2015, returning the brand to growth after four flat years.
Before joining Moët Hennessy, Rodney served as SVP of Classics Brands at Jackson Family Wines and led the most successful new product launch in the company’s history. He has also been the SVP of Robert Mondavi Lifestyle Brands at Constellation Wines, where he oversaw the triumphant turnaround of Woodbridge. Before joining the wine business, Rodney headed the marketing team behind the innovative launch of OnStar for General Motors. His career began in brand management at Procter & Gamble and Johnson & Johnson.
Rodney is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Athletic Association (IAA), one of the leading athletic organizations providing recognition and support to professional and amateur athletes. He also currently sits on the boards of innovative children’s furniture maker Pkolino, based in Florida, the Association of National Advertisers (ANA), and the Emeritus Board of the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD) in San Francisco. He is an advisor and former charter board member of UMECS (United Movement to End Child Soldiering in Kampala, Uganda).
Recent honors include: Hennessy tops IWSR’s World Class Brand ranking (2015); Hennessy “Spirits Brand of the Year” Award, MarketWatch (2015); Moët Hennessy Global President’s Award (2015); Bronze Clio (2015); Internationalist 100 Influential Marketers (2014); Gold Ex Night Life Award (2014); Silver Anvil Award (2014); and Silver Lion, Cannes (2014).
He earned a BA from Amherst College and an MBA from the Kellogg School, Northwestern University.
