Must Mix: Leap Year Margarita

By Chilled Magazine

Monday, February 29th, 2016 is an extra day in our calendars this year.

To celebrate, we’d like to share the “Leap Year Margarita,” served exclusively at Parliament in Dallas only on Leap Day. This cocktail is not your average margarita – it’s made with Gran Patrón Platinum, key lime juice and liquid nitrogen for an innovative drink meant to be a rare indulgence.

“Dallas is the home of the frozen margarita, and I wanted to pay homage to it by hand freezing Gran Patrón Platinum for an upscale twist. It requires a special technique and is much more time consuming than a regular margarita, so it should only be replicated every four years.”
– Stephen Halpin, bartender and creator of the Leap Year Margarita

Halpin is no stranger to creative drinks – his smoked margarita is part of Patrón’s Search for 2016’s [MargaritaOfTheYear.com] Margarita of the Year, a contest where consumers can choose their favorite of seven different margarita styles.

Mix one up at home.
