Meet our newest Chilled 100 Bartender Grant Mohwinkel. Currently based in Minnesota, Grant is the Bar Manager at Bourbon Butcher in Farmington Minneapolis. The secret bar features an award-winning classic cocktail menu served in an old-world setting. For Chilled 100 Bartender Grant, his favorite classic to create and his overall go-to cocktail is the Aviation.
Grant believes that the trends toward bars becoming more sustainable and ecofriendly are important. He is a self-claimed morning person, which sets him apart from most bartenders given the typical late hours. He also abstains from consuming alcohol and hasn’t had a drink in almost six years.
Grant says he could not live without bitters and sherry. Both ingredients he uses often in his creations, like the Coming Around the Bend cocktail which mixes both ingredients with rye, Licor 43, and an absinthe rinse.
And if Grant could go back and give himself one piece of advice as a young bartender just starting out, what would he say? “It’s ok if you don’t know something,” he shares. “Put your ego aside and learn something!!”

Coming Around The Bend
Ingredients:
- 2 oz. Woodford Rye
- 1/2 oz. Licor 43
- 1/2 oz. Lustau Amontillado Sherry
- 1/4 oz. simple syrup
- Angostura bitters
Preparation: Rinse rocks glass with St. George Absinthe. Stir ingredients over a big ice cube. Garnish with a lemon rip.
