Hot Cocktails From NYC Bartenders

As the temperature plummets and the bitter wind nips at your cheeks, one way to stay toasty is to warm up with a few hot cocktails; whether whipped up in the comfort of home or enjoyed at some of New York’s best bars.
Wintertime makes it a near necessity to indulge in delicious liquor-laden drinks, and to celebrate, here’s a variety of hot cocktail recipes using some of the finest spirits from some of the most acclaimed bartenders in New York City.
Selections below include cocktails from mixology masterminds Joaquín Simó of Pouring Ribbons, Cody Goldstein of NYLO Hotel’s holiday popup, A Midwinter Night’s Dream; and Ryan Te of adored East Village favorite, Oiji.
The OTT (Over The Top) Irish Coffee

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz. Knappogue Castle Single Malt Irish Whiskey
- 1/4 oz. Rich (2:1) Demerara Syrup
- 5 oz. Hot Coffee
- 5 drops Saline Solution (or a Tiny Pinch Kosher Salt)
- 2 dashes Regan’s No 6 Orange Bitters
Glass: Stemmed Irish Coffee glass
Garnish: Lightly toasted Little Boo Boo Bakery Knappogue Castle Irish Whiskey Marshmallow
Preparation: Muddle 3 cardamom pods in the bottom of a pre-heated Irish coffee mug. Whip together the zest from one orange with two tablespoons of white sugar, 6 dashes Regan’s No 6 Orange bitters until thickened, but still pourable. Float cream over the top of the drink by pouring gently over the back of a spoon.
Honey Buttered Rum

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz. Aged Demerara Rum
- 3/4 oz. Spiced Dark Honey Syrup
- 1/2 oz. Lemon Juice
- 1/4 oz. Rhum Damosieu 110
- 2 dash Bitter Truth Jerry Thomas Bitters
- 2 dash Angostura Bitters
- Hot Water to Top
Glass: Copper mug
Garnish: Butter cube
Preparation: Stir. Top with hot water.
Lady Macbeth’s Secret Recipe

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz. Knappogue Castle Single Malt Irish Whiskey
- 3 oz. Apple Cider
- 1/2 oz. Earl Grey Syrup
- 1/2 oz. Lemon Juice
- 2 oz. Sparkling Wine
Vessel: Snowman Mug
Garnish: Lemon Twist
Preparation: Fill mug with ingredients and top with hot water. Top with sparkling wine.
