The whisky has also earned considerable respect from whisky-lovers in France, where whisky drinking is much higher than in any other country.
Heavenly Spirits is adding BASTILLE 1789 Whisky and BASTILLE 1789 Single Malt Whisky to the increasing profile of award-winning spirits. As they already have ArmoriK Single Malt Whiskies, made in Britany, France.
The Daucourt family has been in the spirit distillation business for four generations. They don’t just stop at cognac either, the distillery has their earlier industry successes as well, including Jean-Marc XO and X-Rated Fusion Liqueur. Edouard Daucourt, Jean-Marc, and their nephew Charles created a French whisky inspired by their Irish mother, using the family’s traditional gooseneck pot still. Charles holds the role of the brand’s Master Distiller and brand manager in the U.S. The trio celebrates their dream becoming reality by creating a true French whisky.
According to Charles, “Maison Daucourt always selects the highest quality of malted barley and wheat grown in the northeast of France, where some of the world’s finest Scotch producers also source their malt. Bastille uses the purest water, naturally filtered for centuries through limestone springs.
The aging process is carried out in small batches, using different varieties of wooden casks, including the most luxurious French Limousin oak. The barrels are second fill, having previously aged some of the finest wines and spirits in France, each bringing their unique characteristics to our whiskies.”
