Red Eyed Rabbit

Recipe by Nathan Hisamoto

Ingredients:

  • .5 oz. Orange Oleo Saccharum*
  • 1.5 oz. Wódka Vodka
  • .5 oz. Pierre Ferrand 1840
  • 1 Hibiscus Ice Sphere**
  • 2 oz. Homemade Cereal Milk***

Preparation: Combine all ingredients in shaker, shake 12 seconds. Poor into cup, make sure you don’t drop the hibiscus sphere like I did!

*Orange Oleo Saccharum

Peel 2 oranges and 1 lemon, muddle with demerara sugar and let sit for at least 1 hour.

**Hibiscus Ice Sphere

Steep tea and fill ice molds. You can add some orange bitters for extra flavor.

***Cereal Milk

I grew up loving cinnamon crunched toast, so naturally I used that (Plus cinnamon pairs nicely with hibiscus). Lay a few cups of cereal on a baking sheet and bake at 300 for 5 minutes, they’re already toasted so longer toasting isn’t necessary. Then combine with 3.5 cups of milk and steep for 30 minutes. Strain and store.

Cocktail Inspiration:

I gathered my inspiration from Alice in Wonderland, the book being very philosophical, one of the mesages being the fear of having to grow up. I think a lot of us miss being children, how carefree everything used to be.
