Love and War
Recipe by TJ Vong
- 1.5 oz. Wódka Vodka
- .50 oz. Fresh Sugar Cane Juice
- .50 oz. Gran Mariner
- .25 oz. Honey Flower 1:1 SS*
- 2 dash Angostura
In Press: 4 grams of Earl Grey Tea
Preparation: Combine, stir, and strain ingredients into a carafe. Add Earl Grey Tea to the coffee press and gently tighten. Place earl grey tea in a metal tea press, start the tea with about 2 oz of water so the cocktail doesn’t get absorbed into the tea. Place carafe, coffee press, and desired glassware on a tray. I used a punch cup. I prefer the punch or tea cup. Instruct the guest on how to interact with the cocktail. Place coffee press over their glass and slowly pour the cocktail into the press. The guest will also have the option to minimize the infusion by pouring half of the cocktail into the glass first and they infusing the rest.
*Honey Flower 1:1 SS
- 16 oz. Honey
- 16 oz. Hot water
- Approximately 10-15 dashes of orange flower water, depends on brand
Garnish: Coffee Press with Earl Grey Tea
Glassware: Punch Cup or Tea Cup
I wanted to create a simple cocktail with an interactive presentation. The cocktail has the body to be drank on its own but the consumer has the ability to add additional flavor or none at all. The cocktail leaves the consumer curious for more; should I infuse the cocktail more, should I infuse it less, what happened if I do this, and more. Hence the name love and war, a love for what’s in the glass and it’s flavor but at war with the what if and the desire for more! Not just a cocktail but an experience, a Wodka Experience.
