Ingredients:

  • 1.5 oz. Harleston Green Scotch
  • .5 oz. Salers Aperitif
  • .5 oz. Jägermeister
  • .5 oz. Custom Syrup

Preparation: Custom syrup utilizes spent citrus fruit peels from juicing and prepping wedges. Take a mix of lemon, lime, grapefruit, and orange peels (left over pith and flesh included) and add equal parts by weight sugar and warm water and blend until combined. Then filter through fine mesh strainer. Shake all ingredients, double strain, add one cold draft cube to glass and top with grated nutmeg.

Garnish: Grated Nutmeg

Cocktail Inspiration:

My goal was to continue our bars trend of sustainability and trying to find ways of reusing items that would normally be thrown away. After collecting and making the syrup I realized I needed a lot of strong flavors to compliment the scotch and the syrup. After trying a few I landed on Salers aperitif and Jägermeister and when smelling all the ingredients it reminded me of a recipe my mother made when I was young, she utilized a whole orange to make homemade cranberry relish. This memory helped to inspire the cocktail name.
