Bridge the Gap

  • 1.5 oz. Wódka Vodka
  • .5 oz. Noilly Pratt Dry Vermouth
  • 1/2 oz. Lemon Syrup
  • 1/4 oz. Fennel Syrup*
  • 5 gr of Fresh Cut Strawberries, Quartered
  • 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters

Preparation: Add syrup and strawberries into your small mixing tin and gently muddle. Add all other ingredients (except for bitters) and ice and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds. Fill a 10oz rocks glass with crushed ice and strawberry slices. Double strain the cocktail into the glass and top with additional fresh crushed ice. Garnish with 3 dashes of angostura bitters a large strawberry half and a sprig of mint.

*Fennel Syrup

Combine 16 oz. white sugar, and 12 oz. of boiling water stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved. Add 4 oz. of blanched fennel. Let sit until the syrup reaches room temperature. Blend until fully combined and strain through cheese cloth.

Garnish: Fresh Strawberries and Mint Sprig

A cocktail for the last dog days of summer, this bright and refreshing cocktail blends in savory sensations to welcome in Autumn.

I created this cocktail over labor day trying to bridge the gap between the light and airy drinks I love on a hot summer day and the deep rich beverages I crave when the leaves are falling. I was hoping to answer the call of: what does one drink when saying good bye to one lover as we take up the arms of another.
