One Year After Being Named World Whisky of the Year, Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye is Again Recognized by Jim Murray’s Annual Whisky Bible.
Just one year after becoming the first-ever Canadian Whisky to win Jim Murray’s coveted title of World Whisky of the Year, Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye reigns again, as it’s named the Best Canadian Whisky of the Year in the 2017 edition of Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible.
The whisky world was taken by surprise last fall when Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye beat out thousands of Scotch, Canadian and American whiskies to become the 2016 World Whisky of the Year. The announcement drove awareness of the Canadian Whisky category as a whole and led to huge demand for Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye, with the whisky selling out within minutes in some retail locations. This year’s honor of Best Canadian Whisky further reaffirms Crown Royal as the leader within the Canadian Whisky category.
“I said it last year and I’ll say it again this year – Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye is changing the game when it comes to Canadian Whisky. Alongside some of the most sublimely complex, sophisticated and rare whiskies in the world, Northern Harvest Rye continues to hold its own and I’m excited to announce it as the 2017 Canadian Whisky of the Year.”
– Jim Murray
Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye was first released in the U.S. in early 2015. The variant showcases the distinctly Canadian rye whisky featured in the traditional Crown Royal Deluxe Blend that consumers have grown to love throughout the last 75-plus years. Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye (90 proof, 45% ABV) is the brand’s first ever blended, 90% rye whisky and embodies a smooth and spicy flavor profile that can be mixed into traditional rye cocktails or enjoyed neat.
“The back-to-back recognition of Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye by one of the most respected voices in whisky is a direct result of the efforts of our distillers and blender teams in Gimli and LaSalle. To create such a beautifully rich, well-made rye whisky year over year is truly impressive. We’re proud to be recognized in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible once again.”
