Craft Cocktails in Unexpected Places: A Bowling Alley

By Vicki Cruz

Part 1 of an Ongoing Series

Ever go to a place that is unlikely to have good cocktails, or any cocktails for that matter, and find the best cocktail ever?

In today’s cocktail world, you never know where the next great cocktail will come from. “Craft Cocktails in Unexpected Places” finds just that: delicious drinks in places you would never expect.

Bowlmor Lanes, Chelsea Piers

Bowlmor Lanes offers an action-packed list of activities, including bowling, laser tag, a ropes course and an arcade. One other thing they offer? A killer cocktail.

When I brought my kids there for a day of family fun, I never expected to be able to order a cocktail, let alone order from a full cocktail menu. After all, this is a bowling alley, right?

When asked about their signature cocktail menu, Bowlmor Lanes National Beverage Director Jeff Gliner explains, “I try to use quality ingredients and put a refreshing spin on the classics. We’ve got a premium Peach Cosmo, a citrus and raspberry-infused Jack & Coke, a Tom Collins with elderflower liquor, and an Old Fashioned meets Manhattan [called the] Madhatten. The goal is to have something on the cocktail list everyone can identify with and want to try.”

Goal achieved. With 18 locations in NY, LA, Atlanta and Miami, there may be a Bowlmor near you. If not, Gliner has provided us with their signature cocktail recipes so you can make them at home.
