Chinese New Year ‘Lucky Rooster’ Cocktail

By Chilled Magazine

At the end of last year, it was confirmed that Chinese Five-Spice can turn a ‘blah’ chicken into warm spice.

But let’s not forget, the go-to Chinese condiment, traditionally used for Asian dishes (normally fatty meats such as pork, duck or goose) can also be the secret weapon behind a modern cognac cocktail with an oriental twist, perfect for celebrating the coming Chinese New Year. The trend isn’t new, but it’s still going strong.

Chinese New Year, a time Chinese-American families come together for an annual feast to usher in wealth, happiness and good fortune, is the most important and longest holiday in Chinese culture. 119 countries, from the US to Rwanda, will host festivities to mark the new year, according to the Chinese culture ministry. For generations, Cognac has long been a staple in the Lunar year celebrations. The 15 day event is steeped in culture and tradition including large feasts featuring ultra-premium Cognac.

For the Chinese New Year on January 28th, 2017, Hennessy V.S.O.P will be celebrating with the Lucky Rooster, an ode to the year’s animal. Mix one up for yourself!
