Chillin’ with Masiela Lusha

By Chilled Magazine

Chilled caught up with Sharknado 5: Global Swarming actress Masiela Lusha who is probably best-known for her portrayal of Carmen Lopez, George Lopez’s rebellious daughter on the television series George Lopez.

In Sharknado 5, Masiela reprises her role as Gemini, as the sharknado reaches global status, extending worldwide. Mom-to-be Masiela has been laying off the cocktails as of late and ordering water with her meals, but maybe we can get her friend Angie’s mean Mojito recipe!

Tell us a bit about the projects you are working on.

Gemini finds her mission in Sharknado 5.  All that energy, passion, and dedication to do good is concentrated on a team. We find that she is now part of a sisterhood, an army of strong women who battle sharknados together.

Sharknado 5 takes it further than any film prior. We not only play with country borders, but we play with physics. We bend and play with time. There’s a top secret project currently in the works. Though, I do believe it’s one of Hollywood’s worst kept secrets!

With your busy schedule, what do you like to do with your downtime?

While I’m on set with some downtime, I love doing the New York Times Crossword Puzzle. Ideally, the cast gets involved and we spend hours hunched over a phone, finding solutions. It’s my favorite way to unwind on set.

When you go out to eat, where do you like to dine?

I’m a creature of habit and love returning to old-time favorites. I love Home Restaurant in Los Feliz. There is something truly comforting about the familiar.

What types of dishes do you usually order?

I usually order the same dish every time. How exciting!

Do you cook?

Unlike dining out, I tend to explore unique dishes weekly. During my first year of marriage, I cooked a new recipe nearly every day for a year. Mexican, Italian, Thai, I prepared it all! It’s probably the greatest lesson in cooking I endured, and pull back to that experience when making up recipes on the spot.

What types of drinks do you order when out?

I’m not much of a drinker and tend to order water with every meal. You’re really drawing out my exciting side, guys! Wait, there’s more!

Do you prepare drinks at home?

No, but my friend Angie makes the meanest Mojito! I salivate thinking of it.

Do you own a home bar?

Yes, we have a walk in wine cellar. My husband is the wine connoisseur in the family, but that doesn’t say much at all.

What is it stocked with?

Various types of wine, I presume ;)

Have you ever been a bartender?

No, though I have mixed drinks for my friends!
