Thanks to the efforts of beloved industry icon Pamela Wiznitzer, Unofficial Bartenders Week is rapidly becoming one of the largest events of the year for the bartending community.
The list of events this year was impressive. From Muscle Shirt Monday at Extra Fancy to Zombie Laser Tag sponsored by Highland Park, this year was nothing less than spectacular.
To top it off, Angel’s Envy and Davidoff hosted an event at The Carnegie Club that was truly remarkable. With the accompaniment of Christi Gehrisch and her trio, bartenders from across the country came to experience a pairing of limited release cigars and craft cocktails while enjoying some top-notch jazz.
“This is about more than just pairing cocktails and cigars,” notes Kevin Threat from Davidoff. “We wanted to create a memorable experience that would challenge your palate while simultaneously taking it to a new dimension.”
And how! The small and concise menu allowed the attendees to escape a dreary Wednesday in New York for a chance to live in three separate worlds created by this special pairing. “Bourbon and cigar culture go hand in hand,” says Chris Corbin, Angel’s Envy Whiskey Guardian and Head Bartender at The Carnegie Club.
“It was a very special event to say the least, and we were happy that we could raise money for the USBG National Charity Foundation to help our fellow bartenders in need.”
Due to the strict laws across the country regarding smoking indoors, these types of events are very few and far between. That being said, given how well this concept works, more and more of these kind of events will start popping up throughout the US.
