After leading a search in the most influential mixology markets in the U.S., Amaro Montenegro introduced the signature 2016 #MadewithMonte cocktail at Tales of the Cocktail.
Amaro Montenegro, the number one amaro brand in Italy, today concluded its nationwide search for the 2016 signature amaro cocktail on Thursday, July 21st, 2016, when bartender William Perbellini beat nine regional finalists in a head-to-head mixology showdown at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans.
William Perbellini from Los Angeles, California, who is the Bar Manager of Bar Toscana, won with his ‘Montenegro a Colazione’ cocktail – meaning ‘Montenegro for breakfast’. The drink was inspired by the aromas and flavors of a classic Italian breakfast. The ingredients include: two ounces of Amaro Montenegro, one ounce of fresh lemon juice, half an ounce of L’Orgeat Almond Liqueur, one barspoon of apricot jam, three dashes of peach bitters and one barspoon of fresh egg white.
An expert spirits panel of trade and industry professionals crowned the ‘Montenegro a Colazione’ as the “Signature Amaro Category Cocktail,” based on taste, originality, simplicity, balance, presentation, aroma, and name.
