Just in time for spring, the honeydew is making an appearance as a super fruit. Last week, we inducted pomegranate into our super cocktail club. This week the honeydew melon has become the latest fruit touted as being a step above some regular fruits in terms of antioxidant content and overall health benefits. Fresh honeydew puree in a cocktail makes a delicious, creamy, energy-boosting drink that is sweet and packs a big vitamin punch. The melon is both nutritious and delicious and a valuable source of digestive enzymes, protein and hydration.
Give this Honeydew Melon Martini a mix and start sipping the refreshing tastes of spring.
- 2 1/2 oz. Belvedere Vodka
- 3 oz. Fresh Honeydew melon puree
- 1/2 oz. Midori
- 3/4 oz. Fresh Limejuice
- 1/2 oz. Triple sec
- 1/2 oz. Champagne
To make melon puree, simply blend chunks of honeydew in a blender and pass through a strainer. Add to other ingredients in cocktail shaker, shake over cracked ice, serve in a chilled cocktail glass and top with Champagne and garnish with a wedge of melon.
Remember to always use the freshest ingredients in your cocktail. When purchasing a honeydew melon make sure it is soft and the rind is creamy white to yellow in color, indicating ripeness. Avoid melons that are as hard as bowling balls because they were picked too soon and will not ripen.
