Trending Now: Wine Slushies
By Chilled Magazine
A little bit icy, a little bit refreshing, and a little bit boozy, wine slushies are the new cool thing for this summer.
The trending beverage of Summer, 2016 is a twist on a childhood favorite, making ‘adulting’ totally worth it.
From chilling on rooftops overlooking Manhattan, to lounging on the beaches of Puerto Rico, or living it up in Atlantic City, mixologists around the globe are crafting these exciting alcoholic frozen treats for your summertime enjoyment.
Chardonnay: Social Slush
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Atlantic City, NJ
Refreshing, citrus-filled and perfectly boozey, the Social Slush as Wolfgang Puck American Grille at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City uses Chardonnay as the base for its adult slushie. The Social Slush includes dry chardonnay blended with a house-made ginger and mint syrup made with honey, blood orange, fresh cucumber, bitter lemon soda and an orange and mint sprig garnish.
Pinot Grigio: Mango Grigio
At Gansevoort Turks + Caicos, the uber chic island outpost of the popular urban brand, head bartender Ayman Ekladious is blending up different types of vino with fresh herbs and tropical fruits to create some tasty takes on this summer’s hottest cocktail trend. The Mango Grigio takes the classic favorite pinot grigio and pours it atop mango puree.
Sauvignon Blanc: Ginger Vino
For this scrumptious slushie, Gansevoort mixologist Ayman Ekladious makes a concoction of sauvignon blanc and lemoncello. Using fresh ginger, orange and sugar, this refreshingly frozen cocktail is topped with fresh mint.
Pinot Noir: Purplegundy
Complementing its picture perfect views, Gansevoort’s Purplegundy enhances the robust flavors of pinot noir with refreshing strawberries and blueberries, served with icy strawberry puree and garnished with a fresh orange.
Rosé: Frosé
Gansevoort Park Avenue, New York, NY
The Frosé is the newest artisanal delicacy at Gansevoort Park Avenue. This summertime staple, made of frozen rosé sorbet, topped with sparkling rosé, and garnished with fresh fruit (think: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries), is best enjoyed at the hotel’s new surf-town-inspired rooftop hangout, The Drift. Escape the city streets and head twenty stories high to a beach paradise that’s in your own backyard. Frosé is also available poolside and throughout the tri-level rooftop.
Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon: White and Red Tropical Wine Slushie
Condado Vanderbilt, San Juan, Puerto Rico
Wine slushies are getting a tropical twist at the Condado Vanderbilt hotel in San Juan this summer thanks to two delicious recipes developed by bartender Xiomara Matta. Made with a delectable mix of fresh fruits and herbs including pineapple, papaya, watermelon and basil, these island-inspired icy libations are undeniably refreshing and come in either a red or white variety, satisfying all taste buds.
The white version, made with Tokaji and Riesling, is a light and crisp cocktail ideal for enjoying at one of the hotel’s two posh pool lounges (both of which offer stunning, up-close views of the Atlantic Ocean).
The red version, both sweet and tart, is made with Cabernet Sauvignon and a dash of barrilito rum and peach schnapps, making it the perfect accompaniment for a sophisticated social gathering in the hotel’s stunning lobby lounge, the Vanderbilt Court.
