Stephen Cole of Barrelhouse Flat Wins Chicago “Punch Kings” Crown

The Barrelhouse Flat (2624 N. Lincoln Ave.), the award-winning Lincoln Park cocktail lounge, is proud to announce that owner and bar director Stephen Cole took home the Punch Kings crown at the Chicago tour stop of COCHON 555 and Breckenridge Bourbon’s annual competition.

Cole will next travel to Snowmass, CO to compete at the “Last Call” Tour Finale and recreate his winning punch recipe, Bourbon Rouge. The large-format cocktail incorporates Breckenridge Bourbon, Amontillado sherry, lemon juice, Foro Amaro, Sanbitter, and housemade strawberry, apple and maple shrub.

Created by Taste Network’s Brady Lowe in 2008 to increase consumer education around heritage breeds, COCHON 555 is a national event series that takes place in 20 major markets. The Punch Kings competition challenges barkeeps in each market to create an large-format punch recipe, which is scored on Presentation, Creativity, and Flavor by a panel of judges comprised of well-known chefs, media, distillery owners, COCHON Founders, and respected barkeeps.
