Share Summer Beer Cocktails with Good People
By Chilled Magazine
Share some cocktails made with beer with two great Southern craft breweries, one in Birmingham, Good People Brewing Co., and one in Charleston, Palmetto Brewing Company.
Both are considered craft beer trailblazers in the South, and are the oldest craft breweries to open in the respective states. Good People Brewing Co. is a craft brewery located in Birmingham, Alabama. Founded in 2006 by Michael Sellers and Jason Malone, it is the oldest and largest brewery in the state of Alabama and a leader in the South’s craft beer movement. The first craft brewery in the Southeast to can their beers, Good People is currently sold throughout Alabama and in Nashville, Tennessee, and will become available in Florida in 2015.

Palmetto Brewing Company founders Ed Falkenstein and Louis Bruce quit their day jobs in 1993 on a mission to bring craft beer to the South. Palmetto Brewing Company was the first brewery in the state of South Carolina, and is considered the “founding father” of Charleston’s craft beer movement. In 2014, the downtown brewery underwent a major renovation and expansion, enlarging its physical space to include a 14-tap tasting room, and a courtyard for outdoor concerts and events. Palmetto beer is widely distributed across South Carolina and coastal Georgia, with many new markets coming online in late 2015-2016.
