Must Mix: Beer Cocktails for National Beer Day

On April 7th, 1933, the U.S. took the first step toward ending Prohibition by legalizing beer.

Celebrate more than 80 years of freedom to make, sell and drink delicious beer on National Beer Day with a tasty twist on your favorite brew with these cocktails from Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Drambuie and Monkey Shoulder Whisky.

Sailor Jerry Throw Shade

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Sailor Jerry Rum
  • Juice of Half a Lime
  • 1 1/2 Parts Simple Syrup
  • 8 Mint Leaves
  • Amber Lager

Preparation: Muddle simple syrup & mint. Add Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum and shake over ice. Double strain. Serve in beer mug or pint glass on the rocks. Top with Amber Lager. Garnish with lime and mint.

The Backyard Bouie

Ingredients:

  • 1 part Drambuie
  • 2 parts Grapefruit Juice
  • 4 Mint Leaves
  • 3 parts Weissbier

Preparation: Lightly shake Drambuie, grapefruit juice and mint leaves together. Add beer to the shaker before straining over ice. Garnish with a mint sprig.


Ginger Brewsky cocktail made with Monkey Shoulder Whiskey

Monkey Shoulder Ginger Brewsky

Ingredients:

  • 1 part Monkey Shoulder
  • 3/4 part Ginger Syrup
  • 3/4 part Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Beer

Preparation: Add all ingredients other than beer to shaker. Shake well with ice. Strain into glass and top with beer.
