Co-Founder and Beverage Director of La Contenta, NYC, Alex Valencia, has created four amazing cocktails inspired by Day of the Dead and the traditions of his hometown of Guadalajara. Mix them up for yourself!

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Jose Cuervo Tradicional
  • 1/2 oz. Prickly Pear Purée
  • 1/2 oz. Rich Simple Syrup
  • 3/4 oz. Lime Juice

Preparation: Add the ingredients into a shaker, add ice, shake and serve in a cocktail or coupe glass. Garnish with a rose petal or pansy flower.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Jose Cuervo Tradicional Infused Coconut Flake*
  • 1/2 oz. Agave Nectar
  • 1/2 oz. Corn Purée
  • 3/4 oz. Lime Juice
  • 5 drops Habanero Infused Tequila.

*Jose Cuervo Tradicional Infused Coconut Flake

place 250 gr. of unsweet coconut flakes over 750 ml Cuervo Tradicional Silver Tequila and infuse for 24 hrs. Strain to use the infusion.

Preparation: Add ingredients into a shaker, add ice, shake, and serve with a double strain (use a tea strainer). Serve in a cocktail glass or coupe glass. Garnish with a tajin rim and coconut flakes on top.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Jose Cuervo Tradicional
  • 1/2 oz. Green Chartreuse
  • 1/4 oz. Absinthe
  • 1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
  • 1 oz. Lime Juice
  • 3 Sage Leaves

Preparation: Add the ingredients into a shaker, add ice, shake and serve using a double strain or tea strainer. Serve in a highball glass with ice and garnish with a sage leaf on top.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Jose Cuervo Tradicional Infused Marigold Petals*
  • 2 bar spoon Spiced Simple Syrup
  • 2 dashes Peychauds Bitters
  • Lemon Peel Oils on Top.

*Jose Cuervo Tradicional Infused Marigold Petals

Infuse 15 gr. of marigold petals with a liter of Tradicional Silver for 20 minutes; strain.

Preparation: Add ingredients over a stir (or pint) glass, add ice and stir 50 times. Serve in a rock glass or double old fashion glass. Garinish with lemon peel oils and lemon peel on top.
