Jameson Irish Whiskey has officially welcomed The Blender’s Dog, the second expression in The Whiskey Makers Series, to the U.S. market this fall.

Dedicated to honoring the passion and commitment of Jameson’s masterful craftsmen, The Whiskey Makers Series brings uniquely crafted expressions that pay homage to those behind the brand into the Jameson portfolio.

The Blender’s Dog celebrates Head Blender Billy Leighton’s art of marrying whiskeys. A master at matching whiskeys across ages and characters, Billy is tasked with uniting the crafts supplied by distiller and cooper to create harmonious, perfectly balanced whiskeys. The new expression is the perfect balance of spirit, wood, and time; delivering a complex yet harmonious blend with the sweetness of butterscotch giving way to a touch of spices—which is a great whiskey addition to have this holiday season.

The Blender’s Dog is named after Billy’s go-to instrument, a ‘dog’, which is used to collect whiskey samples from the casks. This whiskey pays homage to Billy’s ability to bring together complementary spirits from Midleton’s extensive range of maturing stock.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: From light citrus to pineapple, mango and kiwi notes, with the addition of gs and dates. A touch of walnut leads into the contribution of the seasoned American barrels and Spanish butts, vanilla and toasted oak.
• Taste: A rich, round, creamy mouthfeel, with the sweetness of butterscotch, giving way to the prickle of the pot still spices. Succulent fruit brings the perfect balance as charred oak with some subtle tannin add to the complexity.
• Finish: Exceptionally long, as the luscious fruit is slow to fade.
