Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin Joins Palm Bay International Portfolio

By Chilled Magazine

Leading U.S. wine & spirits importer Palm Bay International is thrilled to announce the addition of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin to its growing artisanal spirits portfolio.

From the curious mind of P.J. Rigney, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin fuses together spices from the orient with local botanicals and gunpowder tea – a slow dried green tea that takes its name from the practice of rolling its leaves into small, shiny pellets and contributes a key fresh spiciness to the blend.

Distillation takes place at ‘The Shed Distillery’, located in the small town of Drumshanbo, Ireland, where it became the first new distillery to open in the area in 101 years in late 2014. Each bottle is hand filled, labeled and sealed at the distillery. The gin is slow-distilled in medieval copper pots with 8 botanicals and then passes through a vapor basket, in which the gin is infused with an additional 4 botanicals – the majority of which were discovered during Rigney’s travels across the Far East, Asia, Africa and Europe over the past two decades. The final product emits smooth layers of fresh citrus with subtle spice, enticing gunpowder tea, and a refreshing finish.

Voted Ireland’s best gin at the Great Irish Beverages Irish Gin & Tonic Fest 2017 for the second year running, Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin has been met with great enthusiasm by consumers in Ireland and throughout Europe. It is currently rolling out nationwide with a SRP of $34.99/750ml.
