Chillin’ with Lenny Platt

By Chilled Magazine

Tall, dark and handsome doesn’t even begin to describe Lenny Platt, who joins the cast of ABC’s nail biting series Quantico, with the most shocking season finale ever.

From his sexy smile to his chiseled physique, audiences are going to swoon for Platt who stars as the charismatic alpha ‘Drew Perales,’ a retired NFL player who is both charming and ruthlessly driven, who will undoubtedly clash with Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra) and crew both in and out of the FBI Academy.

Check out what Lenny has to say about his love for BBQ and bourbon, also about his production company, BBQ Films, which involves staging interactive film screenings around New York City.

Tell us a bit about the projects you are working on.

BBQ Films is an event production company that creates immersive cinematic experiences in extraordinary locations. Our film crew crafts interactive installations around our favorite films, building the very best moment to watch a movie. It grew out of the love for film, started by a husband and wife named Gabriel and Lauren on a rooftop in Spanish Harlem. They would invite their friends over, screen a movie they loved like Goonies or Blade Runner, all while grilling up some burgers. That’s where the name came from-it started as a BBQ. It’s now grown to become NYC’s biggest and most innovative immersive cinema.

For our next show, we’ve partnered with Sony/Columbia Pictures to produce the world’s only immersive experience for the original Ghostbusters. More info and tickets available HERE.

With your busy schedule, what do you like to do with your down time?

I love music, so I try to see shows when I can. I’m really into this band from NYC called The Falling Birds. It’s got a Southern-rock- meets-bluesy vibe. I also got to check out a DJ I love called Pictureplane recently. A great house meets techno sound, really cool stuff. It sounds like music that would play at a vampire nightclub, so I dig it.

When you go out to eat, where do you like to dine?

I love burgers and fries-it’s trouble. I make frequent trips to Shake Shack. Also, I love anything that Dan Delaney and Delaney BBQ put out.

Do you cook?

I love to cook. When I was in school, I always had Food Network on in the background. It’s how I taught myself to cook. My recipe for guacamole, that’s always a hit at parties, is a recipe I got from my favorite chef, Alton Brown. He’s a mad scientist in his approach at the culinary arts. I love it.

What types of drinks do you order when out?

Anything with bourbon. It’s my drink of choice. My standards are an Old Fashioned or a Bulleit neat. I also love a good gin Martini after a long week.

Do you prepare drinks at home?

I do. I usually just stick to making gin Martinis at home.

Do you own a home bar?

I do, but like most things in NYC apartments, it’s tiny. It’s just big enough for a few choice bottles and my Crosley portable record player.

What’s it stocked with?

Right now, it’s a bottle of Havana Club rum I brought back from my trip to Cuba. I love that it’s kind of contraband. Also have a few bottles of red wine and a bottle of Bulleit Rye.

What is your favorite drink?

Bourbon neat.

Have you ever been a bartender?

Only at a few charity events… it’s tough work. I have the utmost respect and gratitude to the bartenders out there. Without you, no one would date or get any business done in NYC.
