The “Home on the Hook” cocktail is a variation of the “Home on the Range” cocktail found in Crosby Gaige’s Cocktail Guide and Ladies’ Companion (1945).
Every product mixed up in the Tasting Room at Van Brunt Stillhouse is made in-house, which allows for a “VBS” spin on classics.
The house-made vermouth at Van Brunt Stillhouse is bitter, more than most sweet vermouths found on the shelf, so VBS eliminated the bitters and added their own vermouth and used cherry brine to balance this cocktail out. They’ve also chosen to serve this version up instead of on the rocks because of the way the cocktail develops as it begins to warm.
