Avanse, a Chicago based nonprofit working internationally to improve the lives of street kids, is teaming up with Enolo Wine Bar in River North to establish a yearlong fundraising campaign called ‘Somms4Kids’. Enolo Wine Bar will host 12 acclaimed Sommeliers throughout 2015, with a different Sommelier picking a featured signature wine each month. From February 15th-March 14th Rachael Lowe, Spiaggia Sommelier, will be featured. Lowe has crafted wine programs at some of the most distinguished dining establishments in the United States and has numerous awards for her work. She holds an advanced sommelier degree from the Court of Master Sommeliers, which awarded her the Rudd Scholarship for top scores on the advanced exam. Lowe won the top prize at the Ruinart Chardonnay competition hosted by Ruinart and the Guild of Sommeliers in 2010, and the Jean Banchet award for Top Sommelier in Chicago. In that same year, Star Chefs named her Rising Star Sommelier. Follow Lowe at @SommLowe.

Every month, a new wine will be featured and served by the glass, with $2 of the proceeds being donated to Avanse. ‘Somms4Kids’ began December 15th, 2014 and will run through December 14th, 2015. Douglas Marello will be the next Sommelier from March 15th-April 14th.

The campaign directly supports Avanse, a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to advance the lives of street kids in Latin America and the Caribbean. Avanse founder, Jeannette Pawula launched the charity in 2010 with a solution-oriented approach to changing the pathways for children living on the streets by providing access to educational and life skills training. The charity has existing programs in Colombia, Haiti and Nicaragua and plans to expand into Mexico in 2015.
