In the spirit of Halloween, we dare you to try these spooky spirits. Their tall tales and wicked tastes will give your guests the CHILLED chills.

Lucid Absinthe is the first authentic absinthe available in America in over 95 years. Absinthe was banned in most countries in the early 1900′s. The company states, “As with all alcoholic beverages, Lucid should be consumed in moderation, particuarly because it contains 62% alcohol by volume. Aside from the alcohol content, however, nothing about Lucid is less “safe” than any other alcoholic beverage.” The company does suggest diluting Lucid before consuming. This product is perfect for the Halloween season, because the bottle is very cool (black with a pair of spooky green cat eyes peering at you) and also because you can tell some eerie tales that go with the consumption of Lucid. Like how in 1905 after drinking it, a man named Jean Lanfray (a drunken farm laborer from Switzerland) went mad and murdered his pregnant wife and two daughters. This became known as the “Absinthe Murder.”

The Wolf Bite

Ingredients

  • 1 part Lucid Absinthe
  • 1 part Midori Melon Liqueur
  • 1 part lemon-lime soda
  • 1.5 parts pineapple juice
  • Drizzle of grenadine

Preparation: In a cocktail shaker, add Lucid, Midori, pineapple juice and ice. Shake well and strain into a shot glass. Add a splash of lemon-lime soda and drizzle with grenadine.

HobNob Wines “Wicked Red”

Just in time for Halloween, HobNob Wines has introduced its newest blend called Wicked Red. Renato Reyes, Chief Marketing Officer at Deutsch Family Wine and Spirits states.

Wicked Red features a blend of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Pinot Noir. With roasted coffee, mocha and toasted hazelnut aromas and a smooth, flavorful texture, Wicked Red is sure to be a crowd-pleaser at your Halloween bash!

HobNob’s Wicked Red Punch(12 servings)

Ingredients

  • 1 750ml bottle of Wicked Red
  • 1 1/2 cups spiced rum
  • 2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 2 Tbsp orange zest
  • 1 Tbsp ground ginger
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp simple syrup
  • 1 lime, zested

Preparation: Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and let sit, refrigerated for at least an hour before. If available, add one large block of ice to the bowl. Stir well before serving and garnish glass with a sugar rim and orange slice (*Tips for your Halloween party – Use dry ice for that smoky effect, but be sure to use food grade. Also, a caldron can be used as a punch bowl).

Vampire Vinyards, Vampire Wine

According to the company, “Rumor has it that the Vampire Vineyards are actually owned by a circle of Vampires and our company’s founder, Michael Machat, an entertainment lawyer from New York, is actually just a front. Whether he and his convertible were commandeered by a Vampire is still a subject up for debate.” Ooh, scary! Also a great story and product for the Halloween season. Vampire Vineyard’s slogan, “Sip the blood of the vine” is pretty clever, too. Any one of the bottles would make a great decorative acompaniment to your Halloween decor. Vampire Reds include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir. Vampire Vineyards also produce a “Dracula” label which includes a Pinot Noir and Syrah. Lastly and perfectly, there is a “TrueBlood” label that contains Pinot Noir.
