National Tequila Day Cocktails

Celebrate National Tequila Day on July 24th with these delicious tequila cocktails.

SmokeyPaloma

Smokey Paloma

Available in the recently renovated Living Room at the W New York – $16

Ingredients:

  • Milagro Reposado Tequila
  • Mezcal
  • Agave Nectar
  • Grapefruit Juice
  • Lemon Juice

EsteLado

Este Lado

Created by Mixologists Ben Scorah and Marshall Altier

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Tequila Don Julio Blanco
  • 1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
  • Slice of English Cucumber
  • Mint Sprig
  • Mint and Cucumber Wheel Garnish

Preparation: Muddle English Cucumber and mint sprig in simple syrup in a cocktail shaker. Add Tequila Don Julio Blanco, fresh lime juice and ice. Shake well. Strain Contents over ice into a rocks glass. Garnish with mint sprig and cucumber wheel.

Ideal Serving: Rocks Glass

Yield: 1 drink, no drink contains more than 0.6 fl oz. of alcohol


PineappleSerranoMargarita

Pineapple Serrano Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Herradura Silver
  • 3 cubic inches of pineapple diced
  • 3/4 oz. lime juice
  • 1/2 oz. simple syrup
  • 3 slices of Serrano chili with seeds.

Preparation: Crush pineapple and chili slices in the base of a shaker with a muddler. Add cubed ice and remaining ingredients; shake hard and strain over ice in an old fashioned glass. Garnish with a chili and a star Anise pod.


EasyTiger

Easy Tiger

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/3 oz. Herradura Blanco
  • 2 slices of ginger
  • 2 tsp agave syrup
  • Squeezed fresh lime juice
  • Ginger Ale

Preparation: In a shaker, crush the ginger and blend in the agave syrup. Add ice and remaining ingredients. Shake and strain into the cocktail glass and cap off with ginger ale.


Azoteas Verdes Margarita

Azoteas Verdes Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Milagro Reposado Tequila
  • 1 part Fresh Lime Juice
  • 3/4 parts Agave Nectar
  • 2 strips of green Bell Peppers
  • 1 D’Avignon Radish
  • 1/5 Kale Leaf

Preparation: Combine the pepper, radish and kale leaf in the mixing glass of a Boston shaker and muddle. Add remaining ingredients and ice and shake vigorously. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass and garnish with a kale leaf and lime wheel.


Blushing Rosemary Margarita

Blushing Rosemary Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Milagro Silver Tequila
  • 1 part fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 part agave nectar
  • 4 watermelon chunks
  • 1 rosemary sprig
  • 2 dashes Fee Brothers Lemon Bitters

Preparation: In a cocktail shaker, muddle fruit and herbs. Add remaining ingredients. Shake and strain over fresh ice. Garnish with Rosemary Sprig and Lemon Wheel.


Ode to Isis Margarita

Ode to Isis Margarita

Ingredients:

  • 2 parts Milagro Añejo
  • 1 part fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 part agave nectar
  • 2 strawberries
  • 2 verbena leaves
  • 1 1/2 part ginger beer

Preparation: Muddle. Shake well. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with a lime.


Hi-Teq Punch

Hi-Teq Punch

Ingredients:

  • 3 parts Milagro Silver
  • 2 parts Lemon Juice
  • 2 parts Simple Syrup (2:1)
  • 2 parts Sparkling Water
  • 5 parts Hibiscus Tea (1 tea bag per 16oz. hot water)
  • 1 part Ginger Juice
  • 1 part Lillet Rose

Preparation: Build ingredients in a punch bowl over a large ice block. Garnish with lemon wheels. Stir well for one minute to dilute. Serve to your guests in a rocks or punch glass and enjoy.

Yields 1 cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Tapatio Blanco tequila
  • 1/2 oz. St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • 3/4 oz. fresh lime
  • 1/2 oz. fresh grapefruit
  • 1/4 oz. agave
  • 1/2 egg white
  • Lime Wheels, Edible Flower

Preparation: Dry shake all ingredients (no ice) in shaker. Pour over ice in rocks glass. Garnish with lime wheels and edible flowers.

Some Like it Hot (raspberry, tequila, jalapeno)

Some Like It Hot (At the Meat Market)

Yields 1 cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Partida Reposado Tequila
  • 3/4 oz. Fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz. Jalapeño infused agave nectar (if no time to in fuse the agave, depending on the spice level desired and the jalapeño’s individual heat, muddle before raspberries and use the same amount of regular agave nectar or if need be, cane syrup)
  • 5 Raspberries

Preparation: Muddle 5 raspberries. Add tequila, lime juice and agave, according to desired level of heat. Shake double strain and serve up. Garnish with jalapeño wheel on the side of a martini glass.

Passion & Pain (At the Cantina La Veinte)

Yields 1 cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Applewood smoked tequila
  • 1 oz. Passion fruit puree
  • 1/2 oz. Lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz. Giffards Apricot liquor
  • 1/2 oz. Agave
  • 3 drops Jalapeño tincture

Preparation: Puree passion fruit, combine with Applewood smoked tequila, lemon juice, Giffards apricot liquor, agave and jalapeño tincture. Serve with a passion fruit slice on the glass.

Wynwood Inferno (At the Wynwood Kitchen & Bar)

Yields 1 cocktail

Ingredients:

  • Jose Cuervo Special
  • Passion Fruit
  • Cilantro
  • Jalapeno
  • Lime Juice
  • Dash Sweet and Sour

Preparation: Muddle jalapeno, cilantro, sweet and sour and lime juice. Combine with Jose Cuervo Special Silver and passion fruit, shake very well. Garnish with fresh cilantro and a lime wedge.

Ingredients:

  • Zignum Reposado Mezcal
  • Kings Ginger Liqueur
  • Fresh Red Pepper
  • Sprinkle Cayenne Pepper
  • Fresh Lime
  • Cucumber

Preparation: Muddle red pepper, cucumber and lime juice. Add Zignum Reposado, Kings Ginger Liqueur, shake very well and pour over ice. Garnish with cucumber wheel and cayenne pepper.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Tequila
  • 1/2 oz. Combier
  • 4 slices of cucumber
  • 1 sprig of cilantro
  • 1/2 oz. Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz. Agave

Blood Orange Margarita at Parker & Quinn; $12

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Avion Silver Tequila
  • 1 oz. Cointreau
  • 1 1/2 oz. Blood Orange Puree
  • 1/4 oz. Lime Juice
  • Ginger Beer

Preparation: Shake Tequila, Cointreau, Blood Orange Puree, and Lime Juice over ice. Strain over fresh ice into a rocks glass. Top with Ginger Beer. Garnish with an Orange Peel.


Dardanella

Dardanella at Refinery Rooftop; $14

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. of Don Julio Blanco Tequila
  • 1 1/2 oz. of sweetened mandarin orange spice tea*
  • 3/4 oz. of tamarind juice
  • 3 slices of ground cucumber
  • 2 pinches of ground ginger
  • 3/4 oz. of fresh lime juice

*Steep 9 tea bags in 1 liter of hot water. Sweeten with 10 teaspoons of sugar. Keep refrigerated.

Preparation: Muddle cucumber in a shaker glass, add all remaining ingredients, shake vigorously and strain into a cactus salt or sea salt rimmed (optional) tequila Riedel glass or coupe glass. Garnish with a cucumber slice or tamarind.


Rigalo Verde

Rigalo Verde at the Lobby Bar at The Bowery Hotel; $15

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. Tanteo Jalapeño tequila
  • 1/2 oz. St. Germain
  • 1/4 oz. Green chartreuse
  • 3/4 oz. lime
  • 1/4 agave
  • 3 basil leaves

Preparation: Combine the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice. Shake and strain into a glass and enjoy!


La Primavera

La Primavera at La Bottega at The Maritime; $14

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Tanteo Tropical
  • 1/2 oz. Canton
  • 1 oz. simple syrup
  • 1/4 oz. lime
  • 3 basil leaves

Glassware: large rocks

Preparation: Add ingredients, shake well and pour.


Anejo Pacifico

Anejo Pacifico at Plunge Bar & Louge at Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC; $18

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. patron anejo tequila
  • 1 oz. passion fruit puree
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice

Glass: martini

Garnish: lime wedge


Spice of Life

Spice of Life at Plunge Bar & Lounge at Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC; $21

Ingredients:

  • Muddle 1 slice of cucumber & 1 slice of jalepeno
  • 1 1/2 oz. milagro
  • 3/4 oz. leblon cachaca
  • 1/4 oz. fresh lime juice
  • shake
  • Splash of simple syrup

Glass: rocks

Garnish: cucumber slice


Rita Rita Margarita

Rita Rita Margarita at JW Marriott Camelback Inn; $14

  • 1 1/2 oz. of Patron
  • 3/4 oz. of Cointreau
  • 3/4 oz. Fresh Lime
  • 1/2 oz. Agave Nectar
  • Lime for Garnish

Tequila Cobbler

Tequila Cobbler at Grape & Vine at The Jade; $15

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. Don Julio Reposado Tequila
  • 3/4 oz. Laird’s Applejack
  • 3/4 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 oz. simple syrup
  • 2 dashes of peach bitters
  • Top with ginger ale

Preparation: Serve over ice with a lemon twist.


Carson’s Cup at Mexicado

Carson’s Cup at Mexicado at the Hyatt Regency Aruba; $12

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Herradura Blanco
  • 1 oz. Grapefruit Juice
  • 3/4 oz. Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz. Tamarind Syrup
  • Corona Beer
  • Raspberries (3-5)

Preparation: Lightly muddle raspberries with a pinch of salt in the bottom of a glass. Add all ingredients, but the beer and stir. Add ice and top with Corona beer. Garnish with fresh raspberries.


Strawberry OJ Margarita

Strawberry OJ Margarita at Hotel El Convento; $12

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. of Patron Orange
  • 1/2 of Cointreau
  • 1/2 oz. of Grand Marnier
  • 2 oz. of Strawberry Syrup.

Preparation: Shake well, serve in a Ciclon glass, garnish with a slice of OJ and Maraschino cherry


Copa Sunset

Copa Sunset at Copamarina Beach Resort

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. of Patron Silver
  • 3/4 oz. of Homemade Ginger Syrup
  • 3/4 oz. of Fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 oz. of Pineapple Fresh juice

Preparation: Topped with ginger ale, shake and pour into an old fashioned class and float of Chambord blackberry liquor. Garnish with lime, a pineapple and mint.


Sirenarita

Sirenarita at Isla Verde Resort; $8.50

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 oz. Cream of Coconut
  • 1 3/4 oz. Tequila
  • 1 3/4 oz. Triple Sec
  • 2 oz. Sour Mix

Strawberry Mango Margarita

Strawberry Mango Margarita at Doubletree San Juan; $8

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Tequila Cuervo Gold
  • 1/2 oz. Cointreau
  • 1 oz. Strawberry Mix
  • 1 oz. Mango Mix

Preparation: Mix all ingredients except the mango. Shake with ice or blend for froz.en Margarita, serve first the Mango for the color effect and follow the mixed ingredients in a cold Margarita cup with Brown sugar in the border.


Paloma Pop

Paloma Pop @ Pod in the Pod 51 Hotel; $13

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Blanco Tequila
  • 1/2 oz. Agave nectar
  • 1 oz. Fresh Squeezed Grapefruit Juice
  • 1/2 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • Splash of ginger beer

Preparation: Shake and strain ingredients into glass with ice. Garnish with lime wedge.


Beer Spiked Margarita

Beer Spiked Margarita at Pop @ Pod in the Pod 51 Hotel; $8

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. of Casamigos Reposado Tequila
  • 1/2 oz. of freshly squeeze lime juice
  • 1/2 oz. of fresh orange juice
  • 1/2 oz. of Grand Marnier

Preparation: Shake all ingredients together. Strain into a pint glass. Fill with Modelo Especial. Glass: chilled pint glass with ice.
Garnish: lime wedge


Death in Oaxaca

Death in Oaxaca at La Bottega at The Maritime Hotel; $14

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. mezcal
  • 1/2 oz. aperol
  • 1/2 oz. cherry herring
  • Splash of ginger beer

Preparation: Add ingredients to cocktail shaker. Shake well. Serve over ice.
