“Falling Sky” Wins Cruzan’s “Don’t Hurry” Award for Being the Last Horse to Cross the Finish Line at the Kentucky Derby!

This past weekend marked the 139th running of The Kentucky Derby ‹ and while the world was rushing to place their bets on who would gallop their way into the winners circle, here at Cruzan Rum had their sights set on celebrating the horse who was content with being the last out of the gate. Congratulations to Falling Sky for winning Cruzan’s “Don’t Hurry” Award for being the last horse to cross the finish line at the Kentucky Derby!

Cruzan® Last Out Of The Gate Swizzle

Ingredients

• 2 parts Cruzan® Aged Dark Rum
• 10 Mint Leaves
• 3/4 part Lime Juice
• 1/2 part Demerara Syrup
• 1 tsp Demerara Sugar
• Bitters

Preparation: In a Collins glass, place sugar at the bottom and cover with mint leaves. Lightly muddle for a few seconds. Add rum, lime and syrup to the glass. Using your muddler push the mint to the bottom of the glass. Add crushed ice to the top and use a spoon to give a quick swirl. Top with a cone of crushed ice and add 6 dashes of bitters, then garnish lavishly with a bouquet of mint leaves.
