Chopin Vodka Brings Chopin Rye to the U.S. Market in March 2011

“Chopin Red” to Enjoy a Red-Carpet Moment
With a Sneak Preview at Santa Barbara International Film Festival Later this Month

January 20, 2011 – Manhasset, NY– In 1997, the introduction of Chopin Potato Vodka to the U.S. market changed the way the world thinks about, and drinks, vodka. Now, the distinctive black-labeled potato spirit will be joined by red-labeled Chopin Rye on the shelves of select U.S. retailers in March 2011.

The U.S. debut of Chopin Rye, long available in Poland, marks a new milestone for the Chopin brand, which pioneered the luxury vodka category. Chopin is one of only a few vodka producers to distill its own spirits and it pursues the art of vodka making with a passion worthy of its namesake, the legendary Polish composer Frederic Chopin. That passion extends to educating the world on the often-missed subtleties of this centuries-old spirit.

“While its composition is simple, vodka is far more nuanced than many people realize,” said Tad Dorda, owner of Chopin Vodka, who takes a winemaker’s approach to crafting his single-ingredient, premium Polish vodkas. “The choice of  base ingredient, whether potato or rye or another grain, the age and quality of that ingredient, and the region in which it is grown – all of these factors produce differences in taste and quality of the final product. With the introduction of Chopin Rye alongside Chopin Potato, vodka enthusiasts in the U.S. can experience and appreciate some of these distinctive qualities for themselves.”

Chopin Rye is produced from the finest golden rye naturally grown in the fertile Podlasie countryside in eastern Poland. The family-owned company relies on a traditional copper still and a simple, centuries-old process, distilling its vodka four times to produce an authentic spirit of superior quality and taste. The result is a rye vodka that is extraordinarily silky, with a rich, balanced finish and a lively hint of spice. Like its potato counterpart, it is excellent in cocktails and unsurpassed served neat.

While U.S. consumers will have to wait until March to purchase Chopin Rye, a sneak preview awaits VIP guests at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, of which Chopin Vodka is a major sponsor. “Chopin Red” will enjoy its red carpet debut at the festival January 27 – February 6.

“The Santa Barbara International Film Festival is a natural choice for unveiling Chopin Rye,” said Dorda. “Chopin Vodka celebrates the artistic spirit in its many forms, whether it’s the music of our namesake Frederic Chopin or filmmaking or the artistry that goes into crafting fine vodka. We are delighted to introduce Chopin Rye to the U.S. in the midst of a tribute to artistic achievement.”
